Bio
Daniel “Dazza” Greenwood is the founder of CIVICS.com, where he helps companies and governments turn AI agents into working products, services and better ways of getting things done. His focus is what makes agents usable at scale: identity, the authority to act for someone, and accountability. He has worked extensively with EY, AT&T, Accenture, The Hartford, GE and other global companies, and with public bodies including NASA, GSA, DHS and the UK Cabinet Office.
His recent work centers on a practical question: who does an AI agent answer to? He builds and researches the ways people and organizations give agents authority, set their limits and stand behind what they do. He built Interlateral, an open-source workspace where people bring their own AI agents to work together, with every agent visibly tied to the person it acts for. He has run it live with groups of professionals working together and side by side with their agents.
Dazza is a project lead at Stanford CodeX and a member of the Loyal Agents research team, a collaboration between Stanford’s Digital Economy Lab and the Consumer Reports Innovation Lab. He co-authored “Authenticated Delegation and Authorized AI Agents” and the OpenID Foundation’s “Identity Management for Agentic AI.” His two decades at MIT included founding and leading law.MIT.edu, research at the MIT Media Lab and teaching at MIT Connection Science. He also led the Data Rights Protocol initiative with Consumer Reports.
Dazza has seen a shift like this before. Earlier in his career, as technology counsel for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, he worked in the multi-state coalitions that moved government to electronic signatures, and he has testified before the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate and state legislatures on electronic transactions law. He is now helping work out the comparable rules of the road for AI agents.
